Black Friday: Friday Is A Holy Day, Not Black – Kano Muslims

Kano State Hisbah Board has negated the tagging of Fridays ‘Black’ in the State, which companies do at the end of every year for sales slash, with the reason that many inhabitants of the State are Muslims and they regard the day as Holy.
In a letter which surfaced on social media, the board written a radio station Cool FM to stop the tag. The board noted further in the letter that its corps will be at the radio station to surveil so as to avoid the occurence of the tag as well as maintain harmony and stability in the State.Xmas Discount Black Friday Sales KOKO TV NG 6
“I am directed to write and notify you that, the office is in receipt of a complaint for the conduct of BLACK FRIDAY SALES on 27, November 2020 instant. Accordingly, we wish to express our concern on the tagging of the Friday as Black Friday and further inform you that, the majority of the inhabitants of Kano state are Muslims that consider Friday as Holy Day.”

“In view of the foregoing you are requested to stop the calling the day as Black Friday with immediate effect and note that Hisbah corps will be around for surveillance purposes with a view lo avoid occurrence of any immoral activities as well as maintaining peace harmony and stability in the state”, the letter reads.
