 Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has joined some of APC members who recently dumped the party for a new one. Ortom announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)during a meeting with elected local government chairmen and councillors on Wednesday at the Government House Makurdi. This came hours after protesting youths stopped him from traveling to Abuja to attend the APC reconciliation meeting.
 Ortom’s announcement finally ends months of speculation that he will return to PDP as a result of his disagreement with leaders of the party in Benue and at the national level.  The governor, only recently fired over 80% of his cabinet members to include the Benue House of Assembly impeached Mr. Terkimbi Ikyange, on Tuesday, as its Speaker.
