Barcelona star Gerard Pique has proved he is not just an ace at football by winning £300,000 at a poker tournament.
The former Manchester United defender helped his hometown club beat Real Betis 5-2 at the Nou Camp on Sunday.
The next day Pique, 32, paid £22,000 to enter an event at the European Poker Tour in Barcelona. He left feeling flush after finishing second from 70 entrants, scooping £320,000.
Pique’s Barca clubmate Arturo Vidal also made the final table of the high roller tournament, collecting £122,000 for his fifth-place finish.
Spanish poker pro Juan Pardo beat Pique to claim the £446,000 first prize.
Pardo said: “I was like a little kid with Pique and Vidal at the tables. I am really happy. Everything went my way.”
