Azeezat Is Yet To Be Found – LASEMA Gives Update On 4 Year Old Swept Away By Flood

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA has given a report on the efforts to recover 4-year-old Azeezat who was swept away by flood in Lagos on Thursday.
In a statement given by Dr Osanyintola Oke the agency’s head, LASEMA revealed that it had gotten a distress call at about 10:30am on Thursday of a flood incident at Number 38, Fashola Street Orile Agege.Azeezat Is Yet To Be Found - LASEMA Gives Update On 4 Year Old Swept Away By Flood
On arrival, the agency learnt that little Azeezat fell into a big ditch when she and her family members were trying to escape as their compound was submerged by flood. All efforts made to find her as at the time the agency gave its report proved futile, nevertheless, the agency noted that the search is still on.

“Upon arrival of the LRT at the incident scene in the company of NEMA officials, it was gathered from residents that a 4 year old girl named “Azeezat” fell into a flooded big ditch/gutter while escaping to safety with her family in the wee hours of the night after their compound was submerged by flood.

The Agency’s officials in collaboration with the Officials of NEMA carried out Post Disaster Assessment and observed that; 1. 3 streets were affected by the heavy rainfall/flood. (Igbayiola street, Fashola Street, Egbatedo street) 2. There are barriers blocking the drainage Channels in the affected areas leading to the canals at Aboru, Arugbanla and Iyana-Ipaja which could have also caused the flood from flowing away. The victim is yet to be found. However search and recovery still continues.
