82-Year Old Remanded In Prison For An Alleged N41M Fraud

 An 82-year old Prince Aminu Musa Oyebamiji has been remanded in prison by an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court in Oyo State, for an alleged N41 million fraud. Oyebamiji was arraigned before the law court on a three-count charge of felony of obtaining money under false pretense. The offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. 11 Laws of Oyo State, Nigeria 2000, were committed in June 2015 in Alalubosa, Ibadan. Oyebamij alongside some other persons allegedly got money from a certain Mr. Adeniyi Aderemi after lying to him that he would be awarded a contract to rehabilitate Ahoda through Baminco Nigeria Ltd, from Agip Company. The third count revealed that Oyebamiji and others then stole N41m from Aderemi. After being read the offenses in court, Oyebamiji pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail of N2.5m with two sureties by Chief Magistrate Jejelaye Ogunbona. The judge insisted that the sureties must be well-known in the community. He added that Landlords. who are ready to deposit the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) or conveyance of the property with the registrar, would be preferred to be the ones to stand as his sureties.
