1. Infertility
Infertility is one of the prime reasons for couples to consider surrogacy as a way to complete their families. While seeking fertility treatment is an option, it can be costly, tedious and sometimes even prove inviable.

2. Same-Sex Couple:
Surrogacy is considered to be a helpful option for couples who cannot conceive traditionally. Same-sex couples, single people or those who find age to be a barrier for natural pregnancy can make use of gestational surrogacy to complete their family. This is a common practice. While it is a commonly followed practice abroad, the Indian government put in strict regulations to ban commercial surrogacy and made it a difficult option to consider for same-sex couple and prospective single parents.

3. Pre-existing Health Issues:
Some pre-existing conditions or medications may make it difficult for some women to conceive naturally. Some women may experience problems or find pregnancy threatening or dangerous to their life with heart diseases, kidney problems. People can also be put on medications, which can deter or impact their fertility levels. Women can also suffer from complicated uterine problems, such as scarring, fibroids or Ashermans syndrome which can make it difficult for them to sustain a pregnancy through the full-term.
4. Lack Of Uterus:
Some women are born without a uterus and this genetic problem can impact fertility. The lack of uterus makes it troublesome for women to conceive naturally. Underlying medical conditions, such as cancer can also take a toll on a woman’s reproductive organs and make them undergo a hysterectomy, which is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus.

5.  Career/Personal Decision:

Some women choose not to carry their own child to be able to continue their career or maintain their physique.
