18,000 New Jobs & More! – What Nigeria Will Gain From Buhari’s Morocco Trip

President Muhammadu Buhari’s two day work visit to Morocco is set to become one of the biggest moves for his administration and the people of Nigeria.

The visit, which is at the invitation of His Royal Majesty, King Mohammed VI, see the two leaders discuss socio-economic matters affecting both countries, following their engagements in December 2016, during the official visit of His Majesty to Nigeria. Discussions that took place in Rabat – the capital of Morocco – focused on strengthening existing agreements on the fertilizer industry, education cooperation, the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline project and establishing a basic chemical platform to harness Nigeria’s vast natural gas resources and support Morocco’s diammonium phosphate industry.

According to Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Buhari signed many memoranda of understanding and agreements that would yield the new jobs and many other benefits during the two-day work visit between June 10 and 11.

Shehu said in a document titled ‘President Buhari’s visit to Morocco: Six quick takeaways’: “If the disarmament and rehabilitation of 30,000 ex-agitators could do so much for the nation, how far would 18,000 skilled and unskilled new jobs go towards cementing that peace?

“While analysts take their time to assimilate and give us the answer as to how much good the new jobs will bring, President Buhari, who visited the Kingdom of Morocco from June 10 to June 11, 2018, signed onto memoranda of understanding and agreements leading to the new jobs and many others.”
