President Buhari Approves $1.9B For New Nigeria-Niger Railway Line

The Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari today Wednesday, September 23 has approved the sum of $1.9 billion for the construction of a new rail line from Nigeria to the Niger Republic. Buhari Nigeria president

The President gave this approval at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council which he presided over. The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi after the meeting spoke to the newsmen saying the money approved by the President for the development of the proposed rail line linking Kano-Dutse-Katsina-Jibia and to Maradi in the Niger Republic is inclusive of Value Added Tax.

The former Governor of River State and Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi said apart from the $1.9bn approved by the FEC,  president Muhammadu Buhari also approved a sum of N3.049 billion for the award of a contract for the design, manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of one railway crane for the purposes of clearing rail tracks in situations of accidents.
