Vera Uwaila Omozuwa‘s sister has accused the police of demanding for ‘mobility fee’ before taking up the deceased case.
She made the allegation during a protest she led some Edo youths in to the State Police Headquarters.
Upon their reception, Uwaila’s sister revealed her disappointment in the Nigerian Police, alleging that some of the officers refused to take up the case when it was first reported until they were paid something. She added that her father went to the station in the community several times, but was told that they needed “mobilization money” for the case. Affirming that the rape had occurred on Wednesday 27th May while Uwa died on Saturday 30th, she alleged further that the police officers asked her father if his daughter is the first person to be raped.Photos Credit: Getty
