Paris’s Eiffel Tower Goes Dark To Honour Victims Of Barcelona Attack

Last night, the famous Paris Eiffel Tower went dark to honour the victims of terror attacks in Spain. The sad news hit the internet yesterday when twenty-seven French nationals were hurt in Barcelona, 11 of them critically, as a van was driven into the popular Las Ramblas street in the centre of the city.Thirteen people were also killed and more than a hundred hurt during the suspected jihadist atrocity. French president Emmanuel Macron said his thoughts were with the victims after the ‘tragic’ attacks. In a second attack eight hours later, a car rammed, killed and wounded people before the attackers were shot in Cambrils – about 75 miles south of Barcelona.A Spanish government spokesman said that among the victims were nationals from different nationalities. France has witnessed a series of bloody jihadist atrocities in recent years, including a truck rampage in Nice in July 2016 that killed 86 people. The Nice carnage and other assaults including the 2015 shootings and bombings on Paris nightspots were claimed by the Islamic State, who also claimed the Barcelona attack.Photo Credit: APF/Getty
