Nine Confirmed Dead As Fulani Herdsmen Strike In Taraba


Fulani Herdsmen attacked the village around 5am in the morning

Suspected Fulani Herdsmen attacked Taraba state in the early hours of yesterday. They reportedly attacked Tutuwa community in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State leaving nine persons dead. Spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, ASP David Misal, also confirmed the incident and the nine persons that were killed in the attack. According to Misal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Aliyu Tafida and other security agencies in the state has moved in to the Local Government to access the situation. Rimansikwe Karma, Chairman of Ussa local government council also said three people were injured in the course of the attack. Karma revealed that the suspected Herdsmen attacked the village around 5am in the morning when the villagers were on their way to observe their morning prayers. He went on to say, “Every Wednesday morning, the community conducts mid-week service and most of them were on their way, when the armed militia attacked them. Nine persons were killed and three others sustained life threatening injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Takum General Hospital. The unfortunate thing is that the attackers left before the arrival of security personnel.”Photo Credit: Getty
