A male customer at the First City Monument Bank FCMB has slumped and passed away in front of the bank while he was on a queue, waiting to be attended to.
The yet-to-be-identified man reportedly in his 50s was said to have been ill and needed to get some money for his treatment but could not access his funds in his FCMB account due to some biometric issues.
He had reportedly been to the bank on Friday but could not resolve the issues and had to visit the bank again today. The Whistler reported that an eye witness said the man died out of frustration and an alleged unfriendly treatment meted out to him by officials of FCMB. According to the report, the indigene of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State had been to the bank with his next of kin on Friday but was asked to go to court to get an affidavit. “The man just died now in front of the bank. He was refused access to his own money since Friday even when he came with his next of kin. He was asked to go to the court to get an affidavit knowing the court is not in session. The man was vomiting and at the same time begging that they should allow him take money from his account. He was left unattended to for more than 5 hours. He just died now few minutes ago at FCMB”, the eye witness reportedly said.
Shedding more light, the deceased’s sister affirmed that he had been to the bank on Friday and has been down with illness but had to make it to the bank to get some money for treatment. Watch the agitated lady query the act of the bank, which she described as wickedness below:
