The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki the certificate of return as the re-elected governor of Edo State.
Governor Obaseki emerged the winner of the Saturday, September 19 governorship elections under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after defecting from the APC to the PDP. He was first elected the Governor of Edo State in 2016 as an APC candidate.
The commission had declared him the winner of the Saturday poll after he got the highest votes in the election that was conducted Governor Obaseki secured 307,955 votes across 18 local government areas (LGAs) to defeat Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled a total of 223,619 votes.
After he was presented the Certificate of Return, he called on his old friend and supporter now turn foe Adams Oshiomhole to let go their difference and come join hands with him to continue to build the what he helped lay its foundation in Edo State.
