A Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has reportedly stopped the prosecution of Daystar Christian Centre’s Pastor Sam Adeyemi, singers Falz, Burna Boy and Davido, producer Don Jazzy, KOKO’s 2020 Woman of the year, Aisha Yesufu and 44 others.
Recall that one Nigerian activist, Kenechukwu Okeke had filed a criminal complaint before a Chief Magistrates court in Abuja against the 50 defendants on Monday 9th November, 2020.
Kenechukwu had alleged that his properties were destroyed during the protests, and the defendants who promoted the #EndSARS protests must be brought to book. In his supporting affidavit, Okeke said the defendants played active roles in the #EndSARS protest which later became violent.
Having initiated criminal proceedings against the #EndSARS riots promoters at exactly 1052hrs WAT, 09/11/2020, we shall ensure that same is diligently prosecuted in the interest of defence, public safety and public order.
