Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has reacted to the news that the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution DPP will be prosecuting him for contempt of court over the production of his movie, Oko Iyabo.
Recall that Yomi Fabiyi had in the movie mirroring the ongoing molestation and child defilement case laid against his colleague Omiyinka Olanrewaju aka Baba Ijesha, portrayed Baba Ijesha as being innocent of the charges against him in the movie, while hinting that he and the victim had a consensual affair.
As the case resumed trial today, the DPP director and prosecution counsel, Olayinka Adeyemi, mentioned at the court that Yomi Fabiyi made a movie from the facts of Baba Ijesha’s ongoing alleged rape case using the real names of the defendants and the survivor of the case. Stating that this act is contempt and the DPP plans to prosecute him, Adeyemi added that the application of the prosecution seeks to exclude him from the court proceedings.
