Togo Appoints First Woman Prime Minister, Victoire Tomegah-Dogbe

West African country, Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbe has appointed its first woman Prime Minister, Victoire Tomegah-Dogbe.

TogoHer appointment comes just after the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Komi Selom Klassou on Friday.

Tomegah-Dogbe, 60, has since 2008 served in different ministerial positions, including Development Minister, and Chief of Staff to the President’s office.

The change in Togo’s government had been a huge possibility since Gnassingbe won his re-election in March, therefore extending his 15-year rule and a family dynasty.Photo Credit: Getty
