Manchester United Star Nemanja Matic Waits After Game With His Kids So That They Can Meet Cristiano Ronaldo…And It’s So Cute.
Nemanja Matic and Cristiano Ronaldo were at war on the pitch as Serbia lost 4-2 to Portugal in an enthralling Euro 2020 qualifier – but it was a different story altogether after the match.
A pair of strikes from William Carvalho and Goncalo Guedes gave Portugal a two-goal advantage in Belgrade before Nikola Milenkovic dragged the hosts back in the game with a thumping header in the 68th minute.
However, Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva scored either side of Aleksandar Mitrovic’s brilliant volley in the 85th minute to secure a crucial away victory for Portugal. Fernando Santos’ side now sit second in Group B, eight points adrift of leaders Ukraine.
As ever, Ronaldo – who scored his 89th goal in international football – was the star attraction and Matic’s two boys got to meet the great man after the final whistle. Last year, Matic’s son, Filip, received a special video message from the Juventus forward but he did one better on Saturday night.
Portugal boss Santos congratulated his players on the win after they managed to break down Serbia at Rajko Mitic Stadium.
‘Serbia surprised me. I thought they would play boldly and offensively,’ he said. ‘Meanwhile, they played defensively, like the first match. It complicated the game, it was more difficult for us to create goal opportunity situations. However, we were the dominant team the whole time. I can congratulate the players on a deserved victory.’
