Romelu Lukaku Pips Bruno Fernandes To Be Crowned 2020/21 Europa League Player Of The Season

Record-shattering Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku has been awarded the Europa League Player of the Season award for 2020/21.

The Belgian striker powerhouse has sent records crashing since he joined Inter Milan from Premier League giants Manchester United. Lukaku scored seven goals in just five games for Inter Milan in the Europa League, with his goals playing a huge part while Antonio Conte’s side got to the final of the competition.

Though Inter lost the final to Spanish side Sevilla in Cologne. Big Rom scored twice in the final dragging his side to cusp of winning the trophy even though they lost the final 4-2 in a dramatic game.

Romelu Lukaku pipped Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes to winning the gong. Speaking after receiving his award, Lukaku said:

‘I want to thank my mum, my brother, my agents, RocNation for supporting me.
‘I want to thank Antonio Conte and his staff for their trust and for helping me. Most importantly I want to thank my team-mates. They’ve been like brothers to me from day one.
‘Every day I come into training with a smile on my face. I hope this year we’re going to do much better than last year and have lots of success.’
‘Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan from Manchester United in 2019 for a fee reported to be a club record €80 million.
