French President, Emmanuel Macron came all the way from Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he met with Buhari, to party at Fela’s Afrika Shrine.
Macron who’s on a two-day visit to Nigeria dumped his jacket and tie and opted for a casual look, as he had fun moments with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at Shrine on Tuesday night.
The 40-year-old French politician arrived the well-secured Presidential Lounge of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) Lagos State at exactly 9:05 pm.
“I’m very happy to be here with you tonight,” said Macron in English while addressing the cheering crowd at the celebration of African Culture.
“We have to build a new common narrative in Africa. You have to recognise the bad and negative pages of this history, but you have to move forward,” he added on Afrika Shrine, a popular nightclub in Lagos, founded by Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
African music stars present at Shrine for the launch of the African Cultural Season, which takes place in France in 2020, include award-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour, and Fela’s first son, Femi Kuti who thrilled the audience with an afro ballistic performance. Others include Asa, Yeni Kuti, Banky W and more.
