Martin Scorsese slowly dozing off to Eminem’s performance of Lose Yourself at the Oscars 2020 was an immediate hit with viewers.
The Irishman director quickly became an internet sensation as he caught 40 winks as the rapper came onto the stage for a surprise appearance. Whether Martin’s not a fan of the track or just tired after two hours of sitting in the same spot remains to be seen.
The hilarious moment began with a montage of memorable songs from hit films before Eminem took to the stage to perform Lose Yourself, which won best original song for 8 Mile in 2002.
As Eminem performed the song, cameras panned throughout the crowd just to stop at Martin taking a wee nap and fans are in love with it. A viewer quickly took to Twitter to share his delight with Martin’s reaction, tweeting: ‘Martin Scorsese and his daughter reacting to Eminem. You’re welcome.’ ‘Cutting to Martin Scorsese during the Eminem musical number is automatically next year’s best short film winner,’ another joked. One person noticed: ‘Martin Scorsese dislikes in order: Marvel movies, Eminem, editing movies.’ Meanwhile, Eminem quickly took to social media to apologise for the delay in showing up at the Oscars considering the rapper won 17 years ago. He tweeted: ‘ook, if you had another shot, another opportunity… Thanks for having me @TheAcademy. Sorry it took me 18 years to get here.’
