Nigerians have again been throwing into a state of confusion, and demanding explanations as a supposedly new security outfit NDLEA SWAT surfaces.
Pictures of operatives wearing some sort of uniforms were seen on social media, bearing NDLEA SWAT, and seemingly stopping people for a search has raised questions and controversy.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, is a Federal agency in Nigeria charged with eliminating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs, while the Special Weapon Tactics SWAT, is the new police unit formed after the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad SARS.

How the two offices combined to become what is seen on the men’s uniform in the pictures, is however, what Nigerians could not understand, and they have begun asking questions. “Dear @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_CRU @ndlea_nigeria what is NDLEA SWAT and why are they on the road with guns searching peoples phone? #WhatisNdleaSwat“, Ruggedy Baba asked. A tweep, however, shared screenshots showing the NDLEA has a team called SWAT. See some other reactions:
