Manchester City midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive to the coronavirus, ahead of his team’s Premier League opener against Wolves.
The result whic hwas announced by City on Monday, September 21 will see the former Dortmund star go into isolation.
Ilkay will also miss his team’s game against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and their Premier League clash against Leicester City next week.
A statement from the club reads: “Manchester City FC can confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine. Everyone at the Club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery.”Photo Credit: Getty
