LagosUnrest: MC Oluomo Vows To Prosecute Any Member Of NURTW Caught Involved Looting And Armed Robbery

The newly elected Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya more popularly known as MC Oluomo has reacted to the allegations that workers of his union are part of those perpetrating chaos within Lagos State and Ogun State in the recent Looting and Armed robberies across both South-Western States.  MC Oluomo

MC Oluomo vowed that any of the members of his Union found to have engaged in such crimes during the Coronavirus lockdown would be prosecuted and dismissed.

MC Oluomo who took to his Instagram page to make this announcement, while also imploring workers of the Union to please endure with the season, that the lockdown was for the good of all.

There’s been quite a number of incessant cases of robbery and banditry that was first claimed to have reared its head in the coastal communities of Ogun State before spilling over into Lagos State, which has created fear amongst residents of communities which have reported to have been victims of the increased cases of looting and robbery in the last few days with Lagosians and Ogun State residents having to create vigilante groups and making bonfires overnight to survive each day.

The statement read in part,

“The NURTW Chairman enjoined all members to endure for the time being otherwise any member caught either attached to robbery or caught at the scene of the act will be totally dismissed and prosecuted by law.
“MC Olumo advised members, including motorcycle and tricycle riders, popularly called Okada and Maruwa to adhere to the federal and state governments’ orders as regards the lockdown on movement.
“He also implored all members especially the branch chairmen to be vigilant and assist their various communities in combating the daylight robberies that are currently being reported in different areas.
“He pleaded with them to stay indoors because it is for the general good.”
