The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA Marine Unit, Shark Squad at had saved a young man from committing suicide on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
In a report given by the agency on its website, the attempted suicide was made by a 27 year old orphan, whose action attracted the attention of passers-by on the bridge. The latter in turn reported the case to the agency at about 10:35 pm on Saturday, activating a series of actions that led to an overnight operation till  about 03:50 a.m on Sunday.
The young man, identified as an Anambra State indigene who resides in Ejigbo axis of Lagos State, could not give coherent explanations as to why he was contemplating suicide, and is said to have been on medications and undergoing therapy for a while, as confirmed by his personal physician.

Following its intervention, members of the LASEMA Marine Response Unit were able to pilot him away from the jump off point after much persuasions, counseling and successful conviction that he has no reason to commit suicide, rather, to continue living and being alive. He has then been handed over to the Agency’s Paramedics, Bravo Unit, for proper medical examination.
