‘It Is Going To Be Exciting’ – Jadon Sancho Promises Manchester United Fans As Premier League Begins

Manchester United new boy Jadon Sancho says he is ‘buzzing’ at the thought of taking on Lionel Messi and PSG’s star-studded attack in the Champions League, while he was full of praise for new teammate Bruno Fernandes and his winning mentality.

The England international finally completed his £72million move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer, though the deal has been usurped somewhat after Chelsea and Manchester City both broke their transfer records and Messi moved to Paris.

Sancho was just as captivated by the Argentine’s shock move as everyone else and says he will use the prospect of having to face PSG – who also boast the two most expensive players in history, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, in their attack – as motivation to keep improving.

Asked what he made of Messi’s move to PSG, Sancho told BT Sport: ‘I think I use that as motivation. PSG are a great side, they’ve got great players like Mbappe, Neymar and now Messi.

‘As a young player I’m looking at that like, “Woah”. That means I’ve got to step up my game and try to show the world that, although I’m not at that level yet, I can get to that level.

‘And especially it’s good competition and every young player should thrive for big games like that. So if we ever did face them in the Champions League I will be buzzing, I’ll be ready to go. But yeah, they’ve got a great side, definitely.’

Sancho started training with United for the first time this week and he says he is already linking up well with Fernandes, praising the Portuguese midfielder’s mindset and approach to training.’

Asked if he brings a winning mentality to training himself, Sancho continued: ‘Yeah definitely. I can see that in a few of the players, like Bruno. Today we were on the same team and we just linked up very well.

‘Me and him love winning, so I’m glad me and Bruno have the same mindset because it’s needed, especially in a big team like this. If you want to win things, you have to learn how to win in training and matches, so it’s important.’

Asked if there was anyone in particular he was looking forward to playing with, Sancho added: ‘There’s a lot of players. I think the whole team is just a great squad. Obviously speaking to Luke and H and Marcus while I was away at the Euros they were just telling me it was a great bunch of lads.

‘I’ve watched some of the games last season and the attack is very good and to be a part of that now is going to be quite crazy because I saw what Bruno was doing, I saw what Marcus was doing, Greenwood and Cavani. So to be a part of that – to add more goals and assists to that – is going to be exciting.’
