The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday rejected two and confirmed 15 of the second batch of 18 nominees sent by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently.
Among those rejected were former Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Sam Egube.
Egube was also rejected in the first list presented by Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Also, former Commissioner for Energy, Olalere Odusote, was rejected for the second time by the Assembly. Tolani Sule Akibu, a new nominee, was also rejected by the House.
The 15 cabinet nominees confirmed by the House of Assembly include the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Omotoso was first rejected by the Assembly and was re-presented by the governor for a second time before his clearance.
Other nominees cleared by the House of Assembly are Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, Oluwaseun Oriyomi Osiyemi, Prof. Akinola Emmanuel Abayomi, Dr. Oluwarotimi Omotola Wahab Fashola, Folashade Kaosarat Ambrose-Medem, Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, Bolaji Cecelia Dada, Barakat Akande Bakare.
Other cleared cabinet nominees are Mosopefolu George, Yekini Nurudeen Agbaje, Dr. Olumide Oluyinka, Abayomi Samson Oluyomi, Dr. Iyabode Oyeyemi Ayoola and. Sola Shakirudeen Giwa.
The confirmation happened after Mojeed Fatai, Chief Whip and chairman of the screening committee, laid a report of the exercise before the House.
The sitting was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa.
However, the House resolved to step down the confirmation of Akibu for another day.
Dr. Obasa commended the committee, saying that the members did a thorough job screening the nominees. His position was supported by the lawmakers present at plenary.
