Guber Polls: Adebutu Leads Protest To INEC Office In Abeokuta


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Ladi Adebutu is currently leading a massive protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters.

Hundreds of supporters have stormed the INEC headquarters singing songs alongside Adebutu as the protest started from the party secretariat.

INEC had declared governor Dapo Abiodun as the winner of the gubernatorial election, defeating Adebutu by about 13,000 votes.

The result has been rejected by PDP saying it was compromised.

Members of the state executive have joined the protest, however, security operatives have barricaded entrances to stop the protesters from advancing.

At a point, some of the operatives started shooting to scare the protesters, but many of them remained resolute.

Adebutu and his team were locked out of the gate for more than an hour before he was later allowed into the premises with two other representatives of the protesters.

He was allowed into the premises after some of the protesters went unclad.

The meeting between the candidate’s team and the officials of INEC, is however ongoing as at the time of filling this report.
