BREAKING: NLC Suspends Strike Over Naira Scarcity

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its planned strike over the scarcity of naira notes in the country.

NLC had planned to commence the nationwide indefinite strike on Wednesday, March 29th and closure of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) offices across the country over the unavailability of cash that has brought hardship to Nigerians and the economic lives of the people.

At the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting this afternoon, leaders of the labour congress gave the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, two weeks to normalise the money supply nationwide.

Recall that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige held a meeting with the NLC and Central Bank in a bid to stop the impending nationwide strike earlier scheduled to commence on Wednesday, March 9th.
