Acne is no respecter of persons both young and old. I bet most of us have experienced acne at some point in our lives. We have all had pimples, while some wonder how it comes, others try their best to make it disappear.

While acne can be caused by a number of factors, it can also range from mild to severe reaction. Like the saying, looking good is good business, everyone wants to have a fresh face for pictures this festive season. Here are 3 Do’s and Don’ts to do yourself in order to have an acne free skin;

DO use ice. It will not only soothe your skin, but it will help reduce the swelling around the pimple — just remember not to leave the ice on for too long, as too much cold can irritate your skin.

DON’T squeeze your pimple or pick at your skin. Ever. Popping your pimples even if they have a white head on them is wrong. This will only increase your risk of infection and scarring and take longer to heal. As tempting as it may be, ensure to resist the urge. You’ll be glad you did.

DO avoid touching your face. Just imagine all of the places your hands have been throughout the day. Even if you wash your hands, there are still a lot of bacteria on there that can irritate your skin. The less you touch your face, the better.

DON’T wash your face too much. Washing your face too much can further irritate or dry out your skin, leaving it cracked and open for bacteria to sneak in. Washing your face twice a day is a good amount to aim for.

DO moisturize every day. Keeping your skin from drying out will help keep your skin looking and feeling healthy. The healthier your skin is, the less likely you will be susceptible to breakouts.

DON’T get too much sun. Regardless of whether or not you have acne, this is just a good rule to follow. The morning sun is perfect for your skin but its the intense sun after mid-day that you should avoid. Too much sun exposure can further damage your skin and sometimes make acne worse.
