Background
She was born in England to a monogamous and humble family but grew up in Northern Nigeria. Her father, a General Surgeon in the Nigerian Air Force, was one of the first medical graduates of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in the 1970s, and her mother, a practicing lawyer, both successful in their respective careers. Abimbola Ayodeji Abolarinwa started her primary education at Air Force Primary School, Kaduna. And then went ahead to Air Force Girls Military School, Jos for her secondary education, and then she got admission into the University of Ibadan (UI) to study physiology. But in her second year, she switched to study medicine. Her decision to study medicine and further train as a surgeon was influenced by her father who often recounted tales of his experiences at work with his children and occasionally took them to his work place.
