McGregor suffered a second round knockout defeat to Poirier at UFC 257 in January, a defeat that levelled things up between the old rivals.

The Dubliner dispatched Poirier with a first round TKO win in their first meeting in 2014 when both men were competing in the featherweight division.

The winner of the trilogy fight, which could take place in front of a live crowd back in Las Vegas, will likely earn a shot at the lightweight championship, which is set to be vacated by Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Dagestan fighter, who holds victories over both men, is sticking with his decision to retire from MMA with Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira set to battle for the vacant belt at UFC 262 in May.
