Actress Mary Lazarus Laments The Tradition Of Burying People In Igbo Culture

Nollywood star Mary Lazarus has cried out on social media over the rigors of burying people in the Igbo culture. The actress took to her social media page to share how people who you have never met in your life make ridiculous demands during the ceremony.

The actress who lost her mother, weeks ago shared her family’s experience at the hands of elders and kinsmen when they wanted to lay their mother to rest. Mary complained about the huge financial demands placed on the family of the deceased just because they decided to bury their mother in the village.

She went on to note that people always find a way to milk you dry like demanding a repeat of events that have been held outside the state and requesting that food be served during all events. A list of the type of food to be served might also be given to the family of the deceased.

Village elders and church leadership will also demand financial gratification for certain parts of the ceremony. Mary Lazarus noted that there was no justification for this behavior and she has refused to understand why y prevails all in the name of culture.
