Yoruba Trademark: Timbuktu Global Apologises, Begs Nigerians To Stop Trolling

Timbuktu Global, the British fashion brand which was called out for trademarking Yoruba has apologised, saying it is willing to release the name of the Nigerian South-West nation.
Recall that Culture tree had called out the London-based company, which uses a city in Mali, Timbuktu as name, for trademarking the name Yoruba and demanding that it pays for wanting to use the name or be ready to face a tribunal.

Following the call out, a lot of messages, trollings and call out have sure been served the Timbuktu Global, especially by Yorubas of the Nigerian nation. The company, however, has come out to apologise, saying the matter has been truly resolved. “We will be releasing Yoruba to Culture Tree immediately. They can claim Yoruba without objection. We have made no profit from Yoruba and never intended to”, the Timbuktu Global said in an Instagram DM screenshot which surfaced on social media.

Apologising, it added, “We have actually spent thousands of pounds protecting the trademark Yoruba for several years and are now happy to hand over / release this name to Culture Tree for free, no costs, no fees etc. Please update your friends, family and all supporters of Culture Tree. This matter is truly resolved. We also ask that all hate / harassment on social media (Instagram. Facebook & Twitter) comes to an end immediately. We did not intend to insult anyone and apologise for any stress we have caused. As said, we did not wish for this.
