Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed has expressed displeasure over Nigerians attacking South African business in Nigeria to protest SA’s act of xenophobia, noting that Nigerians will feel the adverse effects more.

The 67-year-old former National Publicity Secretary of the APC had according to reports condemned the attacks in a statement reportedly issued in Abuja today, in which he noted that attacking South African businesses in Nigeria will be more detrimental to Nigerians.Xenophobia: Lai Mohammed Says Nigerians Attack On South African Businesses In Nigeria Is Deeply Disturbing

“Targetting South African companies in Nigeria for attack is a classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face, because the investors in such companies, especially MTN and Shoprite, are Nigerians”, Lai Mohammed reportedly noted. He added that majority of the businesses’ employees are Nigerians, which will leave a large population of Nigerians hit with unemployment if the organisations shut down.

He then assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is already taking decisive measures to put an end to the persistent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
