Barcelona legend Xavi has named the five Premier League clubs he would consider managing.
The former midfielder is currently taking his first steps into management with Qatari side Al-Sadd – which he joined in May on a two-year deal.
Xavi has helped the side up to third in the table having guided the outfit to six wins in their last seven games – including a 7-1 victory over Al Shahaniya. But he is already eyeing up a potential switch to England, with five giants on his wish list.
“Obviously if I had to choose, I would choose a big team, City or United, Chelsea , Arsenal or Tottenham ,” Xavi said. “Also, [Jurgen] Klopp and [Mauricio] Pochettino and Unai Emery, many people who have gone there are doing an extraordinary job.” Xavi has watched his mentor and former Barca chief Pep Guardiola excel in the Premier League – having won the title twice in three years.
And the ex-Spanish international has lauded praise on Guardiola – and admitted he is in love with his brand of football.
“Pep Guardiola is the best coach in the world and I am a novice. The comparison happened as a player but now we can’t be compared. I am in love with Pep Guardiola’s football. You can win playing football in different ways but I like the one of City and Guardiola the most. I follow the Premier League a lot and I like it. He is a brilliant, demanding, passionate, obsessive person, that’s why he’s doing so well. It transmits a lot to the footballer. I learned a lot and enjoyed my time at his side.”
