World Cup Top Scorers: Harry Kane Tops Ronaldo & Lukaku In Golden Boot Race!

Harry Kane netted thrice in England’s second group game with Panama to lead the World Cup Golden Boot race.

The Tottenham striker is now the leading goalscorer in Russia with five goals – one more than Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, and Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku. Kane is on course to become England’s first winner of the Golden Boot since Gary Lineker in 1986.  In 2014 Colombia’s James Rodriguez finished top scorer with just six goals, while Germany’s Thomas Müllerin in 2010 and Miroslav Klose in 2006, won the Golden Boot with five goals each.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in Portugal’s opening game against Spain before scoring again against Morocco, while Lukaku has scored two in each of Belgium’s games (Panama, Tunisia). Kane and Lukaku will try to be at their best when England play Belgium on Thursday to determine who will finish top of the Group G standings. Russia’s Denis Cheryshev and Spain’s Diego Costa have scored three goals each thus far in the tournament, while players that have scored more than one goal include; Ahmed Must (Nigeria), Luka Modric (Croatia), Philippe Coutinho (Brazil), and Eden Hazard (Belgium).
