World Cup: Brazil Would Not Have Lost 7-1 To Germany With Me – Neymar

Neymar believes Brazil wouldn’t have suffered the 7-1 humiliation by Germany at the 2014 World Cup.

The 26-year-old missed the historic semi-final game because of a broken bone in his back from their quarter-final win over Colombia, and the team captain, Thiago Silva was on suspension. “I would definitely very, very much like to play that game again. With me on the pitch. I believe that the result would have been different,” Neymar said in an interview on Thursday with German’s Spox. “I am actually pretty certain. Unfortunately, destiny made its decision back then.”

Miroslav Klose scored a record-setting 16th career World Cup goal as Brazil’s defense was torn apart with Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle scoring two goals each for Germany, while Thomas Mueller and Sami Khedira added the others. Brazil’s previous biggest World Cup loss was 3-0 to France in the 1998 final. “And there hopefully there is a real revenge,” Neymar said.

The Brazilian forward is the most expensive player at the World Cup as PSG paid Barcelona a record 222 million euros (261 million dollars) transfer fee in 2017. “Also not about being the most expensive player of all time. It is only money – nothing else. I cannot do anything about it. Personally, I would have paid less for myself.” Brazil begin hunt for their first title since 2002 on Sunday against Switzerland. They will also face Serbia and Costa Rica in Group E.
