Willian ‘To Leave’ Arsenal This Summer, Just A Year After Joining From Chelsea

Willian is reportedly expected to leave Arsenal in the next transfer window, just one year after joining the club.

The Brazilian made the switch across London from Chelsea to the Gunners last summer on a three-year contract but has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates.

The 32-year-old has registered one solitary goal – in a 3-1 victory over West Brom last weekend – and provided seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

With the Gunners down in ninth place and facing a first season without European football in 25 years, Mikel Arteta is expected to overhaul his squad in the summer transfer window

Reports earlier this week claimed that David Luiz has informed Arsenal of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season once his contract expires.

And according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Willian is also expected to depart this summer.

There is said to be interest from clubs in Europe and MLS, with Arsenal preparing for official bids to come in for the winger.

ArsenalIn terms of incomings, Arteta is hoping he will be given the ‘resources’ to improve his squad in the summer. ‘Let’s see what happens,’ said Arteta earlier this week.

‘It’s difficult to predict that one but in general we wouldn’t like to do that [sacrifice players] because we’re only going to be stronger.  I think is clear that if we want to improve the team we need some resources.’
