“Trash is trash!“, that is the exact words Nollywood filmmaker Aremu Afolayan used in describing some sorts of music he will never listen to.
In a 14-minute video he shared on his IG page where he talked about living life fulfilled in the stead of blowing up people’s sins whereas everyone is a sinner.
According to him, he listens to contemporaries and there are some certain singers he would look for and find their songs as such songs help to keep people mentally fit.
“I listen to contemporary music, I don’t listen to trash music, trash is trash. I will look for Beautiful Nubia, you guys just hear one particular song about that guy and you just think that’s him. I will find Beautiful Nubia’s song“, he began.”I will find Lagbaja’s song 24/7, I will find Seyi Solagbade’s song, that I just finished singing onto. I will look for Asa’s song, I will actually look for Simi song and Adekunle Gold’s song, I will find it. I will look for Bob Marley and Majek Fashek and Fela. Guess what, I will look for Femi and Seun Kuti”, he said going on and on mentioning Saheed Osupa, Obesere, Tope Alabi, Kwam 1, Barrister, Salawa Abeni and others. Condemning other music and people listening to them, Aremu Afolayan stated that in 5 years time, Nigerians will only be listening to the deceased Ayinde Barrister’s music whether they like it or not. He then added, “But there are some music I won’t find I won’t find them because those music i just find them because those music i just mentioned they are the ones who last you longer, who keep you safe here. You’d think I’m lying try it, try you’d understand.“
