Arsene Wenger to Real Madrid. Could this be happening?

While Unai Emery has replaced Wenger at Arsenal, Thomas Tuchel has gone to Paris Saint-Germain, and Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed as Napoli manager, Wenger is the name on everyone’s mind, as a possible replacement for Zinedine Zidane after his shocking resignation as Real Madrid’s manager. Wenger, just explained his decision to reject offers to become Madrid’s head coach on more than one occasion. “Real Madrid I think I turned down two or three times you know,” Wenger told BeIN Sports. “It’s one of the teams I loved when I was a kid. I just felt that it was a very sensitive period for Arsenal Football Club.

“When we built the [Emirates] stadium the banks asked me to commit for five years. The first time I thought it was inside the five year and I thought I cannot do that, that would betray my club.”

Zinedine Zidane has left his role as Real Madrid head coach, winning three Champions League titles and nine total trophies including Club World Cups (2), UEFA Super Cups (2), La Liga (1), and one Supercopa in three years.

“Winning the LaLiga title last season is my best memory as the coach of Real Madrid,” said Zidane during the press conference to announce his resignation in Madrid. “After three years it’s difficult to continue coaching, even more so after winning three Champions Leagues. I just didn’t see clearly that we would win it again.

“I had the respect of all the players, which has been fundamental in achieving such success. These players have nothing to do with my decision, it’s simply something I’ve chosen to do.” Arsene Wenger is reportedly the favorite to become the new Real Madrid manager. The 68-year-old Frenchman resigned after 22-year spell at Arsenal at the end of season, having guided the club to three Premier League titles, seven FA Cup wins, and seven FA Community Shield since his appointment in October 1996.
