Youri Tielemans has revealed that he decided to join Leicester City ahead of Manchester United because he wanted to join his new club for the start of pre-season training.
Tielemans initially joined the Foxes on loan in the January transfer window but made an immediate impact during his time in the Premier league.
The 22-year-old had attracted interest from United ahead of the summer transfer window withOle Gunnar Solskjaer keen to strengthen his midfield at Old Trafford. But reports have claimed that Tielemans instructed his agent to reject United and the Belgian completed his £40m move to Leicester on Tuesday.
‘I gave myself some time to think about it but after the international break it was clear to me I wanted to come [to Leicester],’ said Tielemans. ‘The second part of the season went very well for me and the team and I wanted to keep playing at a positive club with a lot of ambition and potential. I wanted to make pre-season with the club I was going to play for next season which is why we got the deal done and I’m really happy to be here.’Photo Credit: Getty
