Why I Don’t Consider Myself The Best – Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi sees himself as every other player despite the football world’s greatest of all time label.

The Barcelona star pose with goats on the cover of Paper Magazine’s latest issue, which he discussed his career, family, World Cup and love for animals. “I don’t consider myself the best, I think I am just another player,” he told the mag in an interview. “On the field, we are all the same when the game begins.” Messi who has won record 32 major trophies with Barca is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Messi recently scored hattrick in Argentina’s World Cup warm-up win against Haiti, ahead of their their second and final match with Isreal on June 9, before their 2018 World Cup opener. Argentina find themselves in a group with Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria. “We still have to make ourselves stronger as a team to be in the running to win and be at the same level as other teams like France, Germany, Brazil or Spain,” Messi told Paper. “But we have a good group of players and the Argentine team is always going to be a candidate to win, it doesn’t matter how we get there. We always aim to win and we will try to go slowly but strongly to advance in the competition.”

While talking about his love for animals, the 30-year-old revealed: “I am a big fan of animals, I grew up with them and they have taught me many things.

“Now we have our dog Hulk, who really is part of the family, we always include him. Our children learn so much from Hulk. The love shown between him and the kids is constant.”
