WHO Deploys 39 Health Workers To Fight The Cholera Outbreak In Adamawa

In a bid to halt the sudden widespread of Cholera in Mubi, Adamawa state, the World Health Organisation has deployed 39 professional health workers to contain the outbreak in the densely populated region.
In a press statement released by the Health Emergencies Communication Officer of the organization, Chima Onuekwe, WHO disclosed that there were plans to engage additional 15 ad-hoc personnel to boost the medical efforts.
The statement also confirmed that 434 suspected cases had been recorded with 13 casualties thus far. Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Fatima Atiku, disclosed on behalf of the state government that the state was collaborating with WHO and other partners to ensure that the outbreak was contained.
Dr. Fatima said that the efforts were yielding results as indicated in the decline in the trend of case fatality ratio, which was 17% as at May 12, but reduced to 3%.
