We Will Appeal N20bn Damages Against DSS – AGF Malami

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami has disclosed that the Federal Government of Nigeria will appeal and contest the judgement of an Oyo State High Court that awarded a N20billion damages claim to the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known by his alias Sunday Igboho following the invasion of his home by DSS agents at about 1:30 am on the 1st of July, 2021.

Igboho was awarded the money after his lawyer, Mr Yomi Alliyu (SAN)  had filed a N500 billion fundamental human rights enforcement suit against the AGF, DSS, and Director of the DSS in Oyo State over the incident.

MalamiRuling on the case, Justice Ladiran Akintola said the DSS exhibited unprofessional conduct during the invasion and also violated Igboho’s human rights.

Reacting to the ruling, Malami said efforts are already being made to commence the process of appealing the judgment.
