Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed that Lagos State may record 600 new cases as there are 3,000 samples pending to be tested. Sanwo-Olu disclosed this while giving the COVID-19 report in a statement on the Lagos State Government website.
He stated that the 3,000 samples collected were yet to be tested due to global shortage of the reagent used for molecular testing, more of which has now been ordered. He added that the State will be embarking on aggressive testing in community and is getting prepared to take care of whatever number comes out after the testing. “We made order for more reagents. We are hoping that some of the reagents will be supplied Monday and Tuesday. Once these 3,000 cases are taken care of, you might see up to 600 positive cases, but we are planning and preparing to take care of it. We are improving the capacity of our isolation facilities in preparation to take care of more patients“, he said.
Meanwhile, Lagos State is still leading the toll of Nigeria’s COVID-19 infections with 1,183 of the overall 2,802 cases.
