Liverpool are the reigning Premier League champions, but reports claim the Reds have less than zero interest in bringing Messi to Anfield.

Messi earns incredible figures at Barcelona and and Catalan giants are insisting the Argentine remains under contract and cannot terminate his deal.

A £632million release clause may be impossible for any club to trigger, although reports in Spain claim Barcelona are open to accepting an offer of in and around £200m.

Messi has spent almost 20 years at Barcelona, winning six Ballon d’Ors, but the club have suffered a decline in their standards in the last two years.

Liverpool stunned Barcelona last year in an incredible Champions League comeback at Anfield before Bayern Munich humiliated Messi and his team-mates this season.

Messi’s decision comes less than two weeks after the 8-2 defeat to Bayern and there are widespread reports the 33-year-old will not change his mind about leaving Barcelona.

Should they move for Messi, Man City will have an advantage over their rivals with Pep Guardiola in charge at the Etihad.

The pair enjoyed superb success at Barcelona together and City will consider themselves as one of the few sides who could afford Messi.Messi
