“We Are Not Splitting Up, We Are Sisters” – Little Mix Announce Break After 10 Years Together

Little Mix have announced that they will be taking a break after 10 years to pursue new individual projects.

In a statement that has devastated fans, they confirmed that they were not splitting up completely and hoped to make more music and tour in the future.

The band – comprised of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards – also revealed that the break would happen after their final Confetti tour, which ends in May next year. It comes after reports that Leigh-Anne is planning her own music after singing solo in her movie debut and Jade has “signed with Lizzo’s management team” .

Despite the band insisting that it was just a break and that they would reunite again for more music, fans expressed their fears in the comments below.

One wrote: “i hope this isn’t a “one direction” break lmao.”

While another commented: “IM CRYIN.”

A third remarked: “i knew this was gonna happen but I was still NOT prepared.”

The news comes almost a year after Jesy Nelson announced that she was quitting the band in December 2020 after claiming being part of the band “took a toll on her mental health”.

At the time, Jesy wrote to her 7 .3 million followers that she was leaving with a “heavy heart” as she reflected on the success Little Mix have enjoyed since winning The X Factor back in 2011 . However, it has not been a harmonious split between Jesy and her other three former bandmates following ‘feud’ rumours.

The break-up appeared to turn acrimonious following the release of Jesy’s debut single – featuring Nicki Minaj – as Leigh-Anne , Perrie and Jade all unfollowed her on Instagram. Earlier, Jesy herself had a clear out of her page and now only follows 26 people on the social media site, including sister Jade, P Diddy and Nicki Minaj.

In October NoHun, real name Rory Williams, leaked private messages which he alleged were sent from Leigh-Anne’s Instagram account. He uploaded a string of screenshotted messages to him from a user claiming to be Leigh-Anne where ex-bandmate Jesy was dubbed a “horrible person.” The account also appeared to suggest that NoHun should create a video on Jesy ‘blackfishing’ – a term that refers to someone who is pretending to be black or mixed-race – in her music video for song Boyz.

NoHun shared a screengrab of the text message chat – of which there is no confirmation that it is legit – and a message from Leigh-Anne claiming Jesy blocked her and Little Mix’s Jade and Perrie on social media.

At the time, NoHun sided with Jesy and released the messages to try and show Leigh-Anne in a bad light. But now months after the furore, the TIKTOK user has since claimed that Jesy ‘manipulated’ him with the help of one of her friends.
