We Are Allowed To Partake In Black Friday Deals - Mufti Menk
Following Kano State’s Hisbah Board’s letter of notification to Cool FM against calling Fridays black for a sales slash, a video of Zimbabwean Muslim cleric Ismail ibn Tata Menk, popularly known as Mufti Menk on the bone of contention has surfaced.
The board’s letter had left some Nigerians bewildered, making reference to the same name used in Turkey and Dubai, which are more of Muslim countries than Nigeria. In the video put out on his YouTube page a day ago, he noted that it is not wrong to take advantage of the sales slash as things are usually expensive at other times of the year. He noted, however, that though he prefers it not being called Black Friday for some reasons, it is a good thing to have such discounts.

“My Brothers and Sisters, Black Friday Specials, subhanallah, yes, we are allowed. Make use, benefit from the specials. Sometimes, things have been sold at ridiculous prices, so there are people who say you are not allowed, it’s Haram, you are a Muslim. To be honest with you, I prefer it not being called Black Friday for some reasons but it’s a good thing where we have discounts , perhaps towards the end of the year “
