Disney has confirmed Black Panther 2 is coming, meaning we’ll be revisiting Wakanda soon, with more of Chadwick Boseman and the gang on the big screen.
Sharing the news on Twitter, the Marvel Twitter account wrote: ‘Just announced at #D23Expo: Ryan Coogler returns to direct Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER 2, in theatres May 6, 2022.’
However, while we’re all thrilled that the gang will be back on the big screen, fans were left wondering why it was such a long wait between films.
One fumed: ‘Wtf why 2022???!?’
‘Three years to write and polish a script,’ a Twitter user commented. ‘Okay. Like what else does he have going on? Creed 3?’
While a follower added: ‘That’s a long wait for sequel hope it’s worth the wait.’ Black Panther was released last year, and became an instant hit with film fans.
And the superhero movie, also starring Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B Jordan, made history by scooping the first Oscars for Marvel – with Hannah Beachler and Ruth E Carter winning for best production design and best costume design.
Black Panther 2 is released in cinemas on 6 May 2022.
