Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has just been named the UEFA best defender and as the best player in Europe ahead of three-time winners Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus.
Van Dijk had an exceptional season with Liverpool last season where he marshaled Liverpool’s defence line and held a record of not been dribbled past for over 60 games. He was part of the team that did the impossible “Remontada” against Barcelona where Liverpool did a 3 goal comeback without star Forward Egyptian Mo Salah.
